Well that's it - after 7 months of hard work from the 235 Squadron staff and Cadets the DofE season is over. We will have completed 20 DofE bronze awards along with 7 silver practice expeditions, as well as giving support to 238, 1871 and 240 Squadrons to complete their awards.
This journey has included 2 weekends of training and instruction, 3 practice bronze expeditions, 3 bronze assessments, and a silver practice. Totalling 18 days that our staff have given up to make DofE happen. We now look forward to meeting our new Regional Commandant; Group Captain Roger Simon, who will formally present our DofE awards this year.
I would like to acknowledge the hard work of CI Blackband (who also completed her Lowland Leader and DofE assessors course alongside all of the above), CI Lee, CI Sexton, and CI Brittain, who have attended large amounts of these DofE days. I would also like to thank WO McHenry, Sgt Brown and former OC Flt Lt Berrisford for the time they have given to help make this year a successful one. Finally I would like to thank Flt Lt Dowling - without his tireless support as Wing DofE Officer we could not have achieved what we have this year.
All these staff have volunteered their time to help the development of young people in Stoke on Trent, without their hard work and dedication this years success would not have been possible.
I look forward to next years DofE season, and seeing large numbers of our Cadets progress to Silver level and beyond.
