This weekend saw our second expedition for this years Duke of Edinburgh's Award teams. We had teams on both practice and assessment. Unlike the previous expedition the weather was excellent throughout, our teams made their way across tough routes that began at Tittesworth Reservoir in Staffordshire. The assessment group were incredibly strong and completed their 20km route on Day 1 in 8 hours. Our practice groups had a very long day, and quickly learned that lapse navigation could lead to walking much further than needed. After a good night in camp, and some food, our teams were ready for day 2. The weather was much colder on Day 2 and both groups had an early start. Our assessment group made their way across Shuttlingsloe to Macclesfield Forest, before curving round to the East and finishing at Pym Chair. The practice group had sharpened up their navigation and made their way from Gradbach through Three Shires Head and over Shining Tor. Overall our groups performed to a very high standard, our 5 cadets on assessment passed no problem, with other groups ready for assessment on 29-30 May.
